Blackwood- Today, Dave Mayer, Democrat candidate for Mayor of Gloucester Township, unveiled his plan to spotlight local businesses, as well as increase access to the Mayor. If elected Mayer will hold Saturday office hours once a month at designated local businesses.Instead of only having access to the Mayor when most people work, Mayer’s plan is to hold office hours when more of the residents of GloucesterTownship are available. The local businesses that will host these office hours, would be highlighted on the township’s website for the month, as well as in the township’s newsletter.
“It’s an opportunity for me to spend real time with the residents of our community” Frank Schmidt, local Democrat councilman running for reelection this year said, “and also really highlight the great businesses that are here in town. It’s important for the Mayor to encourage these local business owners and the residents of our community to frequent them.”
“As I talk with people around our community, from stay-at-home moms in Blackwood to small business owners on the Black Horse Pike, they all feel the same way, when they need to get in touch with their local government it needs to be available. The office of Mayor is a 24/7 commitment, not just Monday-Thursday nine to four.” said Mayer.
More than 500 businesses have made GloucesterTownship their home, including Sign Pros, a local employer for over 15 years.“It’s important to have local government that makes local business feel welcomed and promoted. The idea of having residents be able to meet with the Mayor and also be exposed to the great businesses that the township has to offer is a win/win for the people who live and work in this town,” said proprietor, Nick Kappatos.
