David
R. Mayer
Having served the public in staff and elected positions, David Mayer
is seeking to continue his service by running for Gloucester Township
Mayor. Dave’s public career began as an aide for then Freeholder
Director Robert E. Andrews, continued in Andrews’ successful
congressional campaign and then as director of the Congressman’s
district office. From 1995 to 2003, he was chief of staff to Camden
County Clerk James Beach.
Dave’s service as an elected official began in May 2002 when
he was elected to the Gloucester Township Council. Because of Dave’s
strong opposition to dual office holding, he resigned from the council
position when he entered the race for State Assembly in the Fourth
District in 2003. Dave was elected to the State Assembly both in
2003 and then in 2005, where he served on the Assembly Transportation
and Education committees. Dave did not seek reelection in 2007 to
spend more time with his young family. He is married to Della and
they have two children, Bryan 13 and Amanda 10.
Dave earned a B.A. from Rutgers-Camden, a Masters Degree in Public
Policy and Administration also from Rutgers-Camden and a Law Degree
from Rutgers-Camden School of Law. He has taught courses in political
science, public administration and public policy at Camden County
College, Rugters-Camden and Rowan University.
